Android TV app
Noor — prayer dashboard for TV
An offline Android TV app that turns the TV into an Islamic prayer dashboard and screensaver: a big clock, Gregorian and Hijri dates, the five prayer times with a live countdown, daily Hadith, Ayah and Du’a, and an automatic Adhan that pauses whatever is playing.
Live
- Problem
- Keeping track of prayer times at home usually means a phone app; the TV is the biggest screen in the room but shows nothing useful when idle.
- My role
- Designed and built the app end to end — prayer-time engine, Adhan scheduling, nine display styles and the Jumu’ah screen.
- Model
- Personal project; fully offline with no internet permission.
What it does
- Five prayer times with next-prayer countdown
- Automatic Adhan that pauses and resumes video
- Nine display styles, night mode and dimming
- Hijri date (Umm al-Qura) and Islamic calendar
- Daily Hadith, Ayah, Du’a, Dhikr and the 99 Names
- Jumu’ah mode with Surah al-Kahf and Friday reminders
- Ramadan Sehri and Iftar timetable
- Sourced verses and hadith with references and gradings
